Found!! A New Best Friend For The Dog That Survived The NYC Snow Storm

SHE FOUND A NEW HOME!! CLICK HERE!!

This morning, as a buddy of mine drove to work via the Williamsburg Bridge, he noticed something: a small gray dog chained to the pedestrian walkway, shivering, completely drenched and half-frozen. As you probably heard, New York had a very big snow storm last night; we’re almost certain her owners left her out in it overnight to die.

001

That same dog is now sleeping comfortably at my feet, well-fed, fully-bathed, and having been given a clean bill of health by the local vet.

005

My friend brought the dog to his office and spent the entire day making calls, not realizing how hard it is to find a home for a pit bull. Something like 1 in 800 rescued pit bulls find homes, and as far as I can tell, no “no-kill” shelter will accept them. I offered to take the dog for the night, since I live closer to my buddy’s office than he does.

002

Since she showed up to my apartment, she’s been a doll. Hasn’t barked once – in fact, I think the only sound I’ve heard was when she began whimpering when I left the room.

She’s young – the vet estimated her to be 1-2 years old. She knows how to sit, seems to understand stay, and is one of those great dogs that stays very close to your side, leash or no leash. Also, she has a gorgeous gray coat, and as you can see, neither her ears nor tail are clipped. Finally, she’s been exceptionally friendly and playful, both with my roommates and all 30+ co-workers at my friend’s office.

003

My friend’s going to take her back tomorrow and try to find her a home, but prospects are not looking hopeful, and eventually he’ll have to take her to a kill shelter. He asked if I’d put up some pictures on my site to see if anyone out there might be interested in taking her in, or perhaps has some advice on what to do with her (we e-mailed a few pit bull rescue groups, but they had little to offer).

Don’t get me wrong – I am fully aware that she’s a pit bull, and that there’s a rep that goes along with the breed. But this one has been well-behaved and quiet, and I just interrupted her sleep to scratch her belly and all she did was kick her foot and wag her tail happily.

She seems like a beautiful pet for the right person, and if you’re at all interested, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at nycscout@gmail.com. I’ll put you in touch with the person who found her and of course, you would certainly be able to meet her before committing to anything.

006

Anyway, I just finished eating a burrito and some nachos, and I noticed the dog watching me, looking for a treat. At first, my “master” instinct kicked in and I told her to go lay down, which she did. But then I broke down and gave her some left-overs.

After all, she just spent the night in one of the worst snow storms of the year, and probably only has a short time left anyway – why not spoil her a little before she’s gone?

-SCOUT

PS – If you can do anything to help spread the word via Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr, both me and my new lady friend would be forever in your debt.

  1. Hello! I’ve shared her info with several no kill very high profile Pit Bull rescue groups I have contacts with in the NY area. PLEASE do not take her to ACC – if she doesn’t get euthanized, she will get sick or get kennel stress and her temperament can be affected making it harder to get her a home. If I could house her temporarily I would take her off your hands but I am a renter with 2 Pit Bulls already. If you are desperate and cannot wait any longer PLEASE contact me before bringing her to ACC. I will find a way to make it work.

I am a Pit Bull advocate and I will not let this dog die.

  2. I just sent you an email and am very interested in adopting the dog. Especially if she gets along with my other dog, who she looks exactly like.

Its a shame people would leave dogs out there like that. They should be jailed!

  3. If someone wants her but can’t take her right away we could foster her on the LES for a bit. She’s a dog from our hood, we take care of our own.

  4. You are doing a great thing, and she’s a beauty!

Please, especially given the awful time she’s already had to go through, please PLEASE thoroughly check out any potential adopters, as Vivian said. The many comments here show she has options! Some have good hearts but might not be the best in the long term, and some (no diss on anyone here) might actually have ulterior not-so-nice motives. You just don’t know.

This page has good advice plus a sample contact and application to use: http://www.unchainyourdog.org/FindingHomes.htm

Plus a reputable shelter/foster will also have procedures they use for this and will know what to look out for so it’s not all up to you. That might be a better option just for that reason.

  5. Please contact this site – http://fosterdogsnyc.blogspot.com, FosterDogsNYC [at] gmail.com

They will post something up and have a good success rate with getting the word out and may have some suggestions as well. I know its rough, but please don’t give up on her, she deserves better than a kill shelter!

  6. About how much does she weigh? I would LOVE to adopt her, but I have a weight limit for my apartment. I’m in Kentucky, but would see what I’d need to do to get her here!

  7. Please send me a friend request on Facebook (Christine Sandberg) so I can generate interest there and post her story to my wall. You can also call me – 703-338-1177. I work with hundreds of shelters/rescues/bully specific groups…and I’ll be happy to try to help.

Sadly your data is correct: only 1 in 800 pit bulls ever make it out of the shelter system, and over-full shelters will kill to free up space. 4 million dogs and cats are killed each and every year.

Bless you for taking her in.
    Christine. 703-338-1177

  8. Contact the BROOKLYN ANIMAL FOSTER NETWORK. The email address for the head of the organization is lauriebleier[at]nyc.rr.com They practically specialize in rehoming pit bulls. Make sure you are clear that this is not your pet you are trying to ditch but that it is a dog who was rescued from neglect and needs a stable home.

  9. God bless your heart for letting that adorable dog stay with you and for taking the time to take pictures and do a story so she can find a good home. I see that the word has spread out quickly.
I just hope you can stay with her a couple of more days so you and your friend can find the right individual or family and have a happy life. Thank you for being such a good person. The dog is adorable. I live in DC, but I live in a small condo that will only allow smaller breeds. God bless

  10. North Shore Animal League is a GREAT no-kill shelter on Long Island. They have a fantastic reputation! I got my dog from there. Give them a try!

  11. Thank you for taking her in for the time being and trying to find her a home. I reposted on FB and Twitter. Looks like you have many options of what I hope are good hearted people to take her. Please let us know the ending to the story!

  12. My husband and I just lost our Pit of 13 years. She was our dearest friend, and we would love to save another. We live in CT and I spend a few days a week in the city. We have a house with a yard, nearby park, are very active outdoors. I have to check with my husband if he thinks it’s too soon, but she is beautiful and it would be amazing to get to provide her with a loving place to live!
We have no children or other pets!
Please contact me as soon as you can!
    Regards, Megan & Jason Bascom

    1. Hi Megan…
Just saw your response to this posting. If you were still interested in taking in a dog and weren’t able to get this adorable pup, I wanted to see if you’d be interested in this dog: http://www.pawesome.net/2010/12/please-dont-tie-a-dog-to-a-fence-and-abandon-it-what-to-do-when-you-find-an-abandoned-animal/
So sorry to contact you this way, but a friend of mine sent me this link and i was just reading the comments and was moved by your story. You can contact me anytime at peter.grossman@usmagazine.com
      Thanks!

  13. Just want to know if you are still looking for a home for this gorgeous pup! Also if you knew if she is good with other dogs. I have a small dog who kinda “rules the roost” but I am willing to maybe see if they would get along and she would welcome a fellow pup in need (being a rescue dog herself) please let me know!

  14. Pits are some of the best dogs out there. I’ve done animal rescue for years, and the only dog that ever bit me was a Chihuahua – nasty little thing. Unfortunately, I am in NM. Retweeting (which is how I heard of this) and wishing you both lots of luck!

  15. I just adopted a dog, and my apartment has a weight/size limit on the dogs we can own, otherwise I would be all over her. She sounds like such a sweetie. Many people do not realize how nice pitbulls can be, because stupid breeders have given them a bad reputaion.

God bless you for taking her in, and I sincerely hope you find her a home soon.

  16. What is the current ( Thursday jan 13th) status of this dog? Please contact me before she is surrendered to a shelter that will euthanize her. I have two labradoodles and a cat; over the holidays, my son’s 7-month old pit bull and a 1-year old German pinscher mix lived in our house too. I am not afraid of the “pit bull” rep, having experienced the wonderful temperament of my son’s (New Orleans rescue) pit bull pup. This kind of thing makes me weep for the lack of moral imagination (to quote the President) that allows humans to do these things.

  17. I’ve posted this on my FB and twitter with requests to pass it along.

I really hope you guys find a home for her! I would take her myself, but I’m up in Boston and we already have a dog AND cat in our tiny apartment. 🙁

    1. I agree! I hope it works out for this little girl and Megan & Jason Bascom.. Sounds like a great match!

    2. I agree. Megan and jason sound great for this dog. Pits are amazing dogs and very good if u love them. I rescued my pit and couldn’t think of being without him. Good luck!

    3. Totally agree! Megan and Jason Bascom sound like the perfect mom and dad for that beautiful dog! I already have 2 cats and a dog (and 2 kids, lol) and I live in Florida, but my first impulse was to want to adopt her myself! Best of luck and I hope she finds a forever family with the Bascoms’! Please update us on her story!

    4. I agree, I agree! Please keep us posted! Megan sounds like a lady who would love the company of such a sweet dog!

If I didn’t live in Canada, have a cat, or live in an apartment that doesn’t allow dogs; that face of hers could of totally sucked me in!

  18. If you don’t end up finding a home for her, try contacting Animal Haven Soho — they’re a small independent shelter that’s no kill and usually has a few pits. Good luck!

  19. I posted her on facebook. Hopefully my friends will do the same. She looks beautiful. If I wasn’t living in a dorm right now, I would take her in a heartbeat. Hopefully she finds a wonderful forever home!

  20. Please do not take her to animal control, this is hell for dogs and the employees will abuse her and kill her for no reason!!!

  21. there are plenty of no-kill shelters that take pits, in fact most are full of pits and pit mixes! they’ve become one of the most commonly adopted dog breeds.

i live in philly and know of a few here if you get desperate in NYC, but please don’t give up and surrender her to a kill shelter just yet. there is hope!

  22. My wife and I live in Tucson, AZ and have a female pit that looks almost identical! We know they would love to be together! We would love to adopt her but have no way to get over to NY to pick her up. Since we own and operate our own small business leaving is just not an option. She would definately have a loving home and a very happy life (and companion)! We love the breed and are very aware of the stigma that surrounds them (it’s not the dog, it’s the owner(s)) and we take ours with us everywhere, even to our store! If you have any ideas or know any way she could be safely transported, without too much stress to her. We would happily and lovingly accept her into our home as part of our family. Thank you and I hope someone can take her and love her the way she deserves.

  23. I live in NJ, on an acre of property all fenced in. We just lost our 12 yr old Pit Bull in October. We have another small dog who is very friendly and a baby who is due at the end of the month. I’d love to adopt her as long as she gets along with our other dog!

  24. The outpouring of support and all the offers to take her in are really inspiring! I hope that anyone who was moved by this story considers going down to the NYC Center for Animal Care & Control or another local shelter to adopt an equally deserving and loving pit bull.

Also, I think Storm would be a great name for her.

    1. I think that would be an awesome name for her. One day I do hope I am able to adopt a pit bull.. I have always found them to be the sweetest!

  25. I’m in Boston, and have a good friend who rescues PitBulls who would take her if she hasn’t already found a loving home! She’s adorable!

  26. She looks just like my first foster dog – what an angel! But much MUCH more importantly, your friend MUST be sure to charge an adoption fee for this dog if she doesn’t go to a shelter. And preferably a deposit for her spay surgery if she hasn’t already had that done (I’m willing to “sponsor” her surgery, if that will help, by the way), and have the new owner sign an adoption agreement – I can give you samples – basically saying the adopter has to treat her as a pet, not use her for fighting, e.g. It’s still hard for me to believe, no matter how many times I see it, but people will go to great lengths to take advantage of ads like yours – have a fake couple, fake pictures, fake stories about a beloved pet who recently passed, etc. – just to get their hands on a free dog to torture and mutilate. And an intact pit bull is the #1 target. So, please, PLEASE, I beg your friend to take these precautions. I work with several rescues and can provide any further advice or information you like.

    1. I agree. Even if you feel uncomfortable “charging” an adoption fee money, just turn around and donate it to one of the many shelters out there. The fee doesn’t have to be hefty, just enough to ward off crazy people who want to torture the dog.

I know a lot of folks in NYC don’t have a car, but if you don’t find a home in the area and have to try another city, talk to the different shelters. They may not have room for the dog, but might have volunteers willing to help transport her to where she needs to go. I know that is one way the rescue group I adopted my dog from transports dogs to foster/forever homes.

Best of luck! She does look like a sweetheart!

  27. Animal Haven in SoHo (animalhavenshelter.org) is a great organization and always has many pits and pit mixes. It’s a great place!

  28. I posted this on FB and someone replied: “There is a no kill shelter by me – its called Pets Alive – in Middletown NY – web – http://www.petsalive.com

Just wanted to pass the info along. I hope you find her a home though!!!

  29. Dude, I emailed you this morning. As long as she gets along with my dog, I can take her. You can even come to my apartment in Park Slope and check out my situation if you want. Hope to hear back from you.

  30. I posted this on my FB as well as sent it around at work. Wish I could take the little darling…but I live in a tiny apt in Boston wtih roomates that would not take kindly to a new pet.

Pit’s are the absolute best friends to have, fabulous with kids and other dogs. I hope she finds a home soon!

  31. Pitt Bulls are second only to Golden Retrievers in their love of humans and eagerness to please. They are exceptionally easy to train. She looks like a winner. I’m sure she’ll make someone a great companion.

  32. I know you have a ton of leads, but I thought I’d offer one more. We got our little doxie-mix from a rescue place called Misplaced Mutts. When we went to pick her up we noticed the owner had several pit bulls and a pit-bull mix. They were all rescues and all gentle, sweet dogs. (I was surprised.) Our little dog was chewing on one of them and he just sat there and took it. There were 12 dogs all together and they all got along beautifully. I really believe it was the heart of the rescue group that made all these dogs so sweet.

Anyway, here’s their info. Yes, they’re in Cincinnati, Ohio but who knows, they may travel to save just one dog.

    http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/OH885.html

  33. I sincerely hope you are able to find this sweet girl a forever home. I’m in Minneapolis (and “dangerous breeds,” like pits and rotts, are against our insurance – I know, ridiculous), but I’ve retweeted and posted the link on tumblr.

I wholeheartedly second being careful in who you adopt her out to. Charge an adoption fee, get an adoption/rescue network involved who can help you screen the home and potential owner. There are far too many people in this world who will even steal a pit to turn it into a fighting dog or to shove it into a breeding operation.

  34. What a gorgeous dog! I’m all torn up because I’m actually looking to adopt a pup (heading to the shelter tonight) but my complex doesn’t allow pits.

I’ve Tweeted and FBed the link and it’s already been reposted a few times and gotten responses from a couple of people who said they’d email you with leads.

I hope the internet can come through for this gorgeous creature. I’m rooting for Matt, personally. 🙂

  35. What a beautiful pup. I wish we could take her but we don’t have room for another dog in our apartment. I tweeted & posted this on Facebook to get the word out. I’m sure there will be someone happy to offer this sweet pup a good home.

  36. I got an email from a coworker regarding this and passed along the info to my friends; and, one of them wrote back to me. See below:

“Pit bull’s only for experienced dog owner. Maybe you can suggest the “founder” of this dog to contact Bidawee. This is s a non-kill shelter in NY.”

  37. hi… i have contacted the no kill shelter in my little town up north an hour from the city… I have asked them if they would take this little girl in until we could find her a home… i will let you know the response so you can evaluate all of her options…

think it’s so wonderful that someone actually stopped to help her. God what people do to animals…

    thanks,
    rene.

  38. this dog cannot be more than 6 months old. somewhere between 4 and 6 months imo.

i have a boy pitbull, would love to get him a companion but unfortunately my place isnt yet big enough to keep 2.

you should also definitely avoid giving her your scraps, for a multitude of reasons. i understand though, they are just irresistibly cute sometimes.

  39. Check with Animal Haven, in TriBeCa, they usually take adoptable pitts. (i also adopted my pup there) She sounds like a gem and I wish I could tie her previous owners naked to the Williamsburg bridge during a snowstorm an see how they like it! People like that should be locked up and we should throw away the key!

  40. Please, do not take to any shelter before contacting me. I have friends that run Out of the Pits – a Pit Bull Rescue organization. They will not let this beautiful dog die.

  41. Please take the advice of the guy who wrote earlier and make sure that you have them pay an adoption fee and sign an agreement. I would hate to see this sweet pup become part of a fighting ring. Bully for you for taking the trouble to put all this up.

  42. What a good person you are for helping out this pup! Good luck in the search but I’m hoping he steals your heart and stays with you. Remember, they tend to pick us 😉

  43. Did you find her a home yet? If not I’ll talk to my mom and see if she’s cool with it. We have a lab/pit mix who LOVES other dogs. I know people get weird about pits but they’re sweet dogs that are trained to be mean. I’m in Tennessee so if you find somewhere close I completely understand. I just don’t want her going to a kill shelter. She looks so cute! 🙂

  44. As someone who’s fostered pit bull puppies, I can say that a huge difference in how adoptable one will be is whether she’s aggressive to other dogs. We once couldn’t keep a mama that we fostered (with her 7 puppies, for whom we found homes) because she was incredibly aggressive to dogs that weren’t our own, and we are a dog-social family.

If there’s a way you can find out, with her controlled on a leash, and other people’s dogs, letting people know one way or another might make the difference in getting her adopted and making it more likely she’ll stay in a new home.

I’ll push up the signal for you from my end of the world, too. She’s beautiful, best of luck.

  45. Is she potty trained? I think I may have a solution for her, in Yonkers NY(fenced in backyard, nice warm house, no other animals – their last dog died last winter) if so. Please email if she’s still available for adoption, and I’ll do my best tonight.

  46. Try Bideawee (http://www.bideawee.org/). They are a great no-kill shelter. I would totally adopt her, but I can’t have more than one dog in my apt 🙁

I posted this on FB so hopefully someone will contact you soon.

  47. I just wanted to say WOW!!!
Your article about her, and the reactions to it!!
I had a pitbull for many years, and i can say she was the sweetest thing ever!!!
Not a bit bad was in her!!
I seriously hope that it will find a good home.

The news has even reached in Holland here, so it spreaded like amazing fast… and if it was closser by i woudnt doubt a sec to take him!!

Great job of all of you!!!

  48. I don’t think Bide-a-Wee takes pitbulls. Also the ASPCA doesn’t genereally take them either, they have the luxury of refusing animals. Krystal is absolutely right, I am a pitbull owner (just adopted my secoond one, who is on my lap as I type this). There are many disgusting individuals who will take this dog and use if for fighting, Please don’t give him to the first person who seems interested. There are many rescues in NYC who specialize in Pitbulls. They are the best bet, since a)you can give the dog to someone who understands the breed b)they can properly vet the applicants and c) they follow up on the case. Contact Pinups for Pitbulls, they are a great organization, all of them own pitbulls, and have a huge network. I’ll post his pic on their FB page as well. Please be cautious about who you give this gorgeous boy to, he has already had one bad owner please don’t give him to another.

  49. PAWS in Chicago is a no-kill shelter that accepts pits. I know that’s kind of a hike, but there has to be a similar facility in New York. Good luck with her. She’s beautiful. I know someone will want her.

  50. I want to give this puppy a loving forever home. Please contact me 🙂

    kindest regards,
    Marjorie

  51. Check out BARC-brooklyn animal rescue center(?)in Williamsburg- a GREAT NO KILL SHELTER! good luck – she’s a beauty!!

  52. know that there are a bunch of pet transport agencies… so if anyone out of state is serious about adoption… you could arrange transport

  53. Just posted on my fb and twitter. I would love to take her, but just can’t take on the responsibility of a dog right now. Best of luck!

  54. Have you found a home for her yet? I am very interested and I live in Bed-Stuy and my apartment has a backyard. I have been wanting to adopt a dog and this seems like the perfect opportunity. Please contact me by email. easalden@gmail.com

  55. I have a potential home for her, they would like to meet her right away..please get back to me at your earliest convenience

    Best,

    Ilse Singer

  56. If you cannot find anyone to take her, Social Tees animal rescue in the east village is a no kill shelter that pulls from local kill shelters. the owner Robert is an amazing guy and I have fostered several pits with him to see them all happily adopted. I’m sure if you need help, feel free to contact him and he will give you some advice and help.

  57. Posted on FB, sent to NY friends & will post on my blog: herodogs.blogspot.com. She is gorgeous. I wish I could take her myself! Please keep her til the Internet community finds her a home. THANK YOU for helping save her life.

  58. What a beautiful dog and how sweet she seems to be. If I weren’t in Chicago, so far away, I’d take her. Some of the sweetest rescues I’ve ever met are pit bulls.

  59. Hi, I can sympathize with you, my dad and I just rescued a pitbull that was left to die overnight in the blizzard in the Bronx, I was so scared I never had a pitbull my dad brought the poor dog limping, he had ice on his paws and mouth. I posted his pictured on the FB page Urgent 2, a legitimate rescue group called Hounds Rescue contacted me and said they would take him in ASAP but we would have to transport him, my father and I drove 4 hours each way from NYC to Syracuse, the dog’s name is Hershey, he’s now being fostered there and received vet care. If you are able to transport him to Syracuse, Hounds Rescue will probably take him, please e-mail me if you still haven’t found him a home and I’ll e-mail you the director’s name and info. This is their FB page and you can find the dog we found Hershey as well 🙂
Good Luck and bless you for being so kind 🙂

  60. My wife and I are pit enthusiasts (well… I am… she just LOOOOVES our 5 year old dog-friendly pit bull) and would hate to hear that she couldn’t find a home.

If you can’t find her a home I have connections with just about every rescue group in NJ that handles “dangerous breeds” like pits, rots, etc that other people won’t (so foolish, but this isn’t the forum to voice my opinions). If she got along with our dog we may be interested, but it’s more that neither one of us wants to see her put into a pound where her chances are slim.

Please email me if you run out of options. I may be able to open up a few doors for you.

  61. I think Megan and Jason Bascom would be perfect for her. Please do not take her to a shelter with all of ther offers to take her. She is so pretty.

  62. OK I could possibly adopt her.

I have one already and plenty of space. Also if you check out social tees in the east village robert will take her for sure. Thats where I adopted mine. He always rescues pits from the city so they will not put them down.

The owner should be shot! How could someone do that!

  63. I’d love to take her but I do believe my apartments have breed restrictions, which drives me insane! I’d take a pit in a second! I’m getting the word out for her though. Every dog deserves a good home!

(i’m also thinking the Bascoms would be a great choice of home!)

  64. Hi Scout,

I just saw your story. What a beautiful dog! I wish I could adopt her but I already have one. However I fostered mine through this GREAT adoption center, Bobbi and the Strays. Bobbi is a wonderful woman who cares about every single dog that comes into her shelter.

    Her is the website http://www.bobbiandthestrays.org/

Here is another great adoption center
    http://www.strayfromtheheart.org

Hopefully you can find this lovely dog a home or someone can help you find his forever home.

    Best,
    Ana

  65. She looks like such a darling! Did the vet by chance notice if she was microchipped? Because really, whoever would do something so horrible as to leave this doll out in the elements clearly to die deserves to be nailed to the wall.

Regardless, I’ve networked her a couple of times on my Twitter and saw that one of my fave ‘animal’ guys & photographer pals did so as well, also sent a note to a couple in Chicago who are bit pittie fans so they may know of another rescue organization to send your way.

Best of luck! And thank you for being her angel….burritos nonwithstanding. 🙂

  66. I sent this post to my friend who works in pit bull rescues for the Northeast. She looks so sweet and beautiful. I wish I could take her (I live in Manhattan) but I work really long hours.

  67. I hope that this beauty finds a forever home. I volunteer at Liberty Humane Society and it looks like there is a lot of interest out there regarding adopting. Please stop by and see us. We have a lot of beauties that need a permanent home too. http://www.libertyhumane.org/

  68. Totally posted this on Twitter and via my Facebook Profile. And you can thank Tonic.com for posting this link too. Had they not posted via their Facebook Page, I wouldn’t have seen it.

God BLESS you & your friend for taking her in and trying to find her a quality home. Best wishes & many prayers lifted for you all! Please keep us updated on what happens with her, especially if it’s GREAT news.

    Hoping & praying…

  69. What a wonderful outpouring of love for this little angel! I was extremely sadden to read this story but happy that somebody took the time to rescue her. I just don’t understand how a person could abuse something so fragile. Hopefully, you will find the RIGHT person to love and care for this little girl. Please take the necessary steps to ensure that she is not abused by anyone else. If financial assistance is needed, please post info on the site and I will check back later.

  70. Hi,

A colleague is VERY interested in adopting her, I just spoke to him and I can guarantee that she couldn’t find a better home. My friend Ricardo has sent you an email and we are awaiting your response PLEASE if you read this, get back to him soon. He’d like to arrange to meet her on Saturday.

    Thanks,

    Aurora

  71. Why the heck would you take the poor dog to a kill shelter??????? there are plently of NO KILL shelters – try Sean Casey in BK. Its pretty disgusting how people think pets are disposible

    1. The point is that he was trying to avoid that at all costs. As he explains if you read, they wont take pitt bulls. read.

  72. I wish my apartment allowed dogs! I’d take her in a second! My parents live in the Berkshires and I know people are giving you great advice about no kill shelters in the tri-state area, but if you get stuck, there’s a great place up by them called Sonsini Animal Shelter that is no kill. http://www.pittsfieldanimals.org/ My mother volunteered there a couple of years ago and that’s how we got our pug. Good luck. She deserves a great home. Stories like this break my heart, but I know that it’ll have a happy ending with all the support and feedback.

  73. Has anyone claimed her yet? I’d like to meet her if not! Please email me if you’re still looking for a new mom for her.

    1. Think you may have missed the point…. a shelter that would eventually have the euthanize unadopted animals (easier to word it as “kill shelter”) was the last option. Don’t think it will come to that though, thankfully!

  74. God bless you for putting up this post. She is beautiful dog. I wish I could adopt her, but my apartment has restrictions on animal size and dog breeds. It breaks my heart when I hear about how cruel people can be.

I placed a link to this article on my Facebook page and asked people to spread the word about her. Let’s hope she finds a loving and forever home.

  75. just reposted to my facebook account… please keep us posted on if she gets placed. I have adopted 2 little pugs so I know the great joy adopted pets bring into families 🙂 praying she gets adopted soon!
